One of my favorite days is almost here. I mean, besides Friday. Thanksgiving is upon us, my elastic pants are washed and packed and ready to go. I’m ready to throw down an embarrassing amount of food. We are headed to see family, many of which I haven’t seen since 2012. Shame on me, I know. These folks are dearly loved, they include aunts, uncles, loads of cousins (firsts all the down to well….I don’t know how all that works. There are lots of us). Have you ever seen Home Alone? The first one? Well it’s kind of like that but without the swearing and we actually like each other. I have memories of getting to sit a lot during Thanksgiving. I don’t think that will be the case this year as Ike (our youngest Sweeter Thing) is in full on self destruct mode 24/7. So I am sure most of my time will be spent removing sharp objects from his hands, digging choking hazards out of his mouth, and removing poison from his reach. Which is a lot since he’s super tall for a 2 year old. Ah, the holidays.
My contribution to this family holiday is ALWAYS scotcharoos. I bring 2 pans every year, wherever it is that I am celebrating. One side of my family (the side that is not with us this year) barely gets through one pan. It is disappointing to say the least. THIS side however, well, this is not the case. We will proudly devour pan #1 before we even get to dinner and pan #2 by the end of the day. I do however have several favorite Thanksgiving dishes, all of which are tried and true recipes, sure to please. So have at it!
