We have a new teeny tiny Sweeter Thing at our house! Isaac was born at 12:31 on September 3, weighing in at 10 lbs. 3 oz and measuring 23 inches long! I told you I was having a huge baby. It was an uneventful delivery, scheduled c-sections are awesome! I just walked into registration and said “I’m here to get my baby out today” and off we went. Ok, maybe a couple things happened in between there. And…pretty sure I was actually in the early stages of labor during the couple hours I waited for the “extraction” as we called it. The monitors showed my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart, to which I said “let’s get this show on the road!”. Glad I did too….the whole operating room was pretty impressed by my toddler sized baby.
We have had the privilege of having both our moms around for the last couple weeks as I recover and get into the swing of having two Sweeter Things to take care of. Eric’s mom worked her little tail off cleaning our house, entertaining Anna, organizing every square inch of the house (it needed it!) and so on. My mom was my rock as the hormones crashed and I balanced some challenges nursing our new little guy and getting him to gain weight (big fat babies lose a lot of weight in the first week…and then are apparently supposed to gain it all back in the blink of an eye….no pressure). It’s been a post partum roller coaster but we are so blessed! Our neighbors and church friends have kept us fed and we have seen blessing after blessing from Eric’s co-workers, friends, family, you name it.
How’s Anna you ask? Totally uninterested to be honest. When she came to visit us in the hospital, she was a lot more concerned about which flavors of popsicles were in the hospital freezer than the new bundle of joy coming home with us. Oh well….she’ll love him more and more the older he gets.
Thanks for listening to me gripe about pregnancy for the last 9 months and for all the support and excitement! I love hearing from you guys and had fun sharing this experience with you. I’m sure you’ll be hearing all sorts of fun stories as our house gets crazier and crazier, thanks for listening to all my rants! I’ll be back in the kitchen next week so stay tuned!
